Teaching

My goal is to teach students professional skills they can carry into the workplace. I design courses with this one goal in mind, and apply it no matter the content. Research methods? We can make that about work. Public speaking? We can definitely apply those skills in the workplace. Writing? Absolutely.

I encourage high student engagement and deeply care about the success of my students. I have almost 10 years of experience teaching at the undergraduate level. I am also a formally trained teacher and taught middle school and high school English for 3 years before entering academia.

Comments from former students:

“Rachel made one of the most difficult courses in our major exciting and easy to understand because her teaching methods were meant for all types of students.”

“My favorite teacher I have ever had. She genuinely cares about student well being and is extremely reasonable. Rachel is the Lebron James of the department and everyone else is the Caveliers’ roster.”
